Summer 2016 - New Orleans, Louisiana
McGlinchey Stafford welcomes first-year law students to apply for its 2016 Diversity Fellowship. In 2008, we formally created a diversity fellowship program for first year law students. The McGlinchey Stafford 1L Diversity Fellowship represents our firm’s long-term commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse and inclusive work place and to promoting diversity within the legal profession. From our inception, we challenged the status quo and earned a reputation as a progressive, merit-based business that rewards individual achievement and potential. Our 1L Diversity Fellowship is just one aspect of our commitment to attracting, mentoring, developing, and promoting diverse attorneys and starts at the beginning of a lawyer’s career – the first year of law school.
The 2016 fellowship will consist of:
Summer Associate Position
The recipient will receive a paid summer clerkship in our New Orleans, LA office. The program will be 6 weeks in duration from June 27–August 5, 2016. Award recipients will also be eligible for consideration of a 2L clerkship.
A $5,000 scholarship to assist with the costs of books, tuition, or other law school expenses, will be distributed to the Fellow’s law school at the beginning of the Fall 2016 semester.
Leadership Council On Legal Diversity
The 1L Diversity Fellow will have the opportunity to attend the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Scholars Summit from May 19–21, 2016 in Chicago, IL. This retreat brings together Diversity Scholars from around the country to build relationships within the legal community by networking and working alongside counsel and managing partners of LCLD member organizations nationwide.
McGlinchey Stafford is dedicated to giving our summer associates the opportunity for future permanent hire. We demonstrate this commitment by partnering two attorneys with each summer associate in a formal mentorship program and providing a mentor to the Fellow throughout his or her law school career. McGlinchey Stafford’s clerkship programs foster an environment of camaraderie, teamwork, and friendship. We hope that you will leave our clerkship program with new friendships that last throughout your legal careers.
