Mike Rubin Warms Up the Maine State Bar as Its Keynote Speaker

The Maine State Bar can’t import warm weather to its chilly coast in January, but it did import Baton Rouge lawyer, Mike Rubin, to warm up the crowd as its key note speaker at Maine State Bar’s annual awards dinner in the seaport town of Rockport. Rubin, whose talks are in demand nationally and who has spoken at more than 200 events throughout the United States and Canada, gave a “Light Hearted Look At Lawyers And Judges” that had the crowd laughing and applauding.

Rubin’s talks combine an informal style with scholarship, thought-provoking comments, and humor, as he demonstrated not only at the Maine State Bar’s awards dinner but also at the Bar’s annual education seminar, where he analyzed the proposed Maine ethics rules for lawyers. Said Brett Baber, president of the Maine State Bar, “Mike had thoroughly reviewed Maine’s new proposed ethical rules and provided us with distinctive insight into issues of professionalism. By combining the issues of professionalism with his own unique repertoire, Mike made this a very enjoyable segment of our meeting.”

Widely recognized for his work in Louisiana real estate law and finance, Rubin is the immediate past-president of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. He has also served as president of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Southern Conference of Bar Presidents and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Bar Association. His numerous law review articles and publications on real estate and finance have been cited as authoritative by state and federal courts, and his legal writings have been used in law school courses around the country. Rubin is a senior member of the multi-state law firm of McGlinchey Stafford.

Mike’s next gig is at Georgetown Law School’s 9th Annual Advanced Commercial Leasing Institute coming up at the end of March.
