Raymond "Ray" A. Chenault is an accomplished litigator with more than 24 jury and bench trials. He has extensive experience in complex commercial, consumer finance, class action and broker-dealer securities matters. Prior to joining McGlinchey, Ray was assistant general counsel at a national bank and managed the bank's prime and subprime auto-lending litigation and all of its subprime mortgage litigation. Ray works with a variety of clients, including banks, consumer lending institutions, oil companies, insurers and registered securities brokers.
Ray is the Chairman of the firm's diversity committee. In this role, he is responsible for the management and oversight of the firm's efforts to recruit and retain diverse lawyers and to create an inclusive environment that will enable all lawyers to succeed within the organization.
Class Action Defense
Ray has been involved in dozens of national and statewide class actions, including lawsuits involving alleged violations of state and federal lending laws, federal consumer disclosure laws and disparate impact discriminatory lending practices.
Commercial Litigation
Commercial contractual disputes, breach of partnership fiduciary duty and general commercial litigation are among the matters Ray has handled.
Consumer Financial Services Litigation
Ray frequently defends mortgage lenders, mortgage servicers and banks involved in complex commercial and class action lawsuits. Ray's representation of consumer financial services institutions not only includes defense of matters in California and Louisiana, but throughout the central and eastern states, as well.
A frequent presenter on consumer finance lending and class action litigation topics, Ray is active in the field of consumer finance litigation nationwide.
Electronic Discovery
Ray is a member of the firm's E-Discovery Team and assists his partners and firm clients in the handling of electronic discovery matters.
Securities Litigation
Ray has successfully defended prominent brokerage firms in matters involving securities claims, including allegations concerning suitability, trade secret appropriation and employee raiding.
