Susan Tyler is a senior member in the firm’s New Orleans office. Her multi-state practice focuses on commercial transactions, commercial lending and real estate development, financing, construction, acquisition and sales. She combines legal expertise and a solution-oriented perspective to the counsel she provides.
Clients and colleagues in and out of the legal arena regard Susan as a proven subject matter expert on commercial lending. As a result, she is a sought after speaker, lecturer and facilitator. As a licensed title insurance agent and a Certified Public Accountant, Susan brings a broad professional service perspective to every matter she encounters on behalf of a client. As further evidence of peer recognition, she has been selected for inclusion to Woodward White's Best Lawyers in America for Real Estate Law.
Susan has represented lenders and business clients in a variety of matters, including the construction financing of over fifteen multi-family affordable housing, new market and historic tax credit projects following Hurricane Katrina including condominiums, apartment complexes, an industrial warehouse, an assisted living facility and an automobile dealership. Other representative projects have included the construction financing of a paper recycling facility; the documentation and negotiation of a $100,000,000 loan including the subordination of eight tranches of debt aggregating $800,000,000 for an oil refinery; various timber and agricultural loans secured by real estate, UCC and agricultural collateral; the acquisition of $30,000,000 oil and gas portfolio, secured by more than one hundred properties located in five states; the construction and permanent financing of two specialty heart hospitals located in Louisiana; the development and financing of an industrial zeolite plant; all aspects of automobile dealer financing, including floor plan and fleet financings, and dealer real estate acquisition and construction financings; the acquisition, sale, development, construction, financing, and leasing of office buildings, shopping centers, resort condominiums, hospitals, gaming facilities and other commercial and industrial properties; and commercial workouts, restructurings and foreclosures in federal and state courts.
