Burton D. Brillhart practices in the consumer financial services section of the firm and is resident in the Dallas office.
Consumer Financial Services
Burton's practice focuses on the representation of businesses, banks, financial institutions, auto finance companies and mortgage companies, advising them on regulatory compliance, litigation, loan documentation, residential mortgage lending and 50-state licensing. Burton brings to the firm in-depth experience within the financial services industry, where he served as in-house general counsel for five years prior to joining the firm.
Indicative of his knowledge of the financial services industry, Burton is frequently called upon to speak to trade groups and other business and legal professionals. He has also published numerous articles for industry and legal publications, including Texas Lawyer.
Prior to moving in-house in the financial services industry, Burton was in private practice for nearly a decade. During this time, he handled commercial litigation, intellectual property and was chairman of the labor and employment section of the Dallas-based law firm, Godwin Gruber, PC.
