Edelman Named Vice Chair of ABA Consumer Financial Services Committee
Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that Mark Edelman, chair of the national Financial Institutions Compliance team, has been named vice chair of the American Bar Association (ABA)’s Consumer Financial Services Committee. The committee, which falls under the Business Law Section, is one of the ABA’s largest, with hundreds of members and 19 subcommittees. Mark will serve a three-year expiring in 2027.
“I am honored to fill this role, to continue promoting the committee as a relevant and inclusive platform for practitioners, both experienced and new, whether in-house or outside counsel, government regulators, or consumer advocates,” Mark said. “The ABA has always been an open and welcoming environment, especially for early career lawyers, to meet others who are as geeky as they are and make personal and professional friends and contacts. I look forward to advancing the committee’s purpose as a meaningful network throughout our industry and beyond.”
As vice chair, Mark will help effectuate chair Sabrina Neff’s goals to develop and promote meaningful pro bono activities that promote financial literacy, engage and involve the Young Lawyer Liaisons YLLs to develop the pipeline of committee leadership, and promote strategies that engage in-house lawyers in particular within the group.
“I am glad for Mark to serve as Vice Chair as we both continue and improve upon valuable work of the CFS Committee,” said Sabrina Neff, Committee Chair. “I was drawn to Mark’s perspective based on wide and diverse involvement across the ABA and depth of finance industry knowledge, as well as his team-oriented approach to leadership. He will lend a tremendous benefit to the programs we implement in coming years.”
As a member of the committee for more than 30 years, Mark has held various roles, including chair of the personal property finance committee. Other McGlinchey attorneys serving in ongoing positions within the Consumer Financial Services committee include:
- Aaron Kouhoupt: Chair, Compliance Management Subcommittee
- Jim Milano: Vice Chair of Programs, the Consumer Financial Services Committee
- Jim Sandy: Vice Chair, Debt Collection Practices and Bankruptcy Subcommittee
- Robert Savoie: Co-Vice-Chair, Electronic Financial Services and Digital Currency Subcommittee
