Litigator Jennifer D. Cruz Joins McGlinchey in Baton Rouge
Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey Stafford announces the addition of Jennifer D. Cruz to the firm’s Baton Rouge office as an Associate in the firm’s Financial Services Litigation group.
Jennifer represents national banks, lenders, servicers, and others in state and federal court and in arbitrations. In particular, she advises clients in claims brought under federal and state consumer protection statutes and unfair trade practices laws. She has experience in a wide array of financial services litigation, motion practice, and trial advocacy.
“I am excited to add Jennifer to our Baton Rouge office,” said Zelma Murray Frederick, Baton Rouge Office Managing Member. “Her diverse litigation background will make a great addition to our team.”
With considerable experience representing debtors, creditors, and bankruptcy trustees in consumer and commercial bankruptcy and insolvency matters under Chapters 7, 11, and 13, Jennifer handles the full spectrum of financial services litigation. She previously served as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Ronald A. Clifford III the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Central District of California.

Jennifer was named the Blackshear Presidential Fellow in 2021 by the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges. She teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Bankruptcy Law and leads the Louisiana Bar Preparatory Course at Southern University Law Center. Jennifer is also active in a number of legal and bankruptcy associations at the local and national scale.
Jennifer graduated magna cum laude with her Juris Doctor from Southern University Law Center. While there, she served on Law Review and participated in the student attorney bankruptcy and tax clinics. Jennifer is licensed in Louisiana and Texas and holds a B.A. in English Literature from Louisiana State University.
