McGlinchey Attorney Dhruv Sharma Named as Leadership Council on Legal Diversity 2020 Fellow
McGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce Dhruv Sharma has been selected to be a member of the 2020 class of Fellows, participating in a landmark program created by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) to identify, train, and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.
Sharma is a Member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice group. Based in the Irvine office, he primarily represents banking and other financial institutions in consumer financial services litigation. He also defends creditors’ rights in bankruptcy proceedings and represents businesses in contractual disputes and general commercial litigation. Sharma was named a 2019 “Rising Star” by Southern California Super Lawyers and is active in local bar associations and several community organizations.
“We are proud that Dhruv will represent McGlinchey as a 2020 LCLD Fellow and we are pleased to select him for this year’s program,” said Deirdre McGlinchey, head of McGlinchey’s Diversity Committee. “His dedication to excellence, both in his practice and in community service, has distinguished him as a future leader in his field.”
“This is an outstanding honor for Dhruv, who joins a select group of diverse, remarkable attorneys who have been recognized for their potential as leaders in their organizations. Through our involvement with and support of LCLD, McGlinchey is proud to champion initiatives that aim to improve diversity outcomes in the legal profession,” said Rudy Aguilar, Managing Member of McGlinchey.
LCLD’s Fellows Program emphasizes development in three core competencies: relationship building, transformational leadership, and professional branding. McGlinchey, a member of the LCLD, has seven previous participants in the Fellows Program since 2011: Heather LaSalle Alexis, Lauren Campisi, Andy Cao, Kyle Ferachi, Kelly Lipinski, Stewart Spielman, and Susan Chylik.
According to LCLD President Robert J. Grey, Jr., the LCLD Fellows Program offers participants “a year-long, in-depth program devoted to relationship-building, in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership and the best teachers in the business.”
In 2018 and 2019, McGlinchey was honored as a Law Firm “Top Performer” by the LCLD. From the firm’s inception, McGlinchey has challenged the status quo and earned a reputation as a progressive, merit-based business that rewards individual achievement and potential. In addition to active LCLD membership, McGlinchey actively supports the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society and Association of Women Attorneys, among other organizations, as well as our own Diversity Committee, Women’s Initiative Network, African American Affinity Group, Asian Affinity Group, Hispanic Affinity Group, and LGBTQ Affinity Group. The firm also offers an annual Diversity Fellowship to a first-year law student, which includes a $5,000 scholarship, a paid Summer Associate position, and formal mentorship from McGlinchey attorneys throughout the student’s law school career.
The LCLD is an organization of more than 300 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners working to promote inclusiveness in legal institutions, in circles of influence, and in society, with the ultimate goal of building a more open and diverse legal profession.
