McGlinchey Attorney James Sturdivant Receives Birmingham Business Journal’s Best of the Bar Award
Read Time: 1 minMcGlinchey is pleased to announce that law firm partner James R. (Jim) Sturdivant has received the Birmingham Business Journal’s Best of the Bar award. This award recognizes the most notable attorneys serving the Birmingham area.
As part of McGlinchey’s Government and Internal Investigations team, Jim aggressively represents clients in high-stakes white collar litigation. He helps them prepare for and navigate government investigations, prosecutions, and regulatory actions, including preventive consulting, internal investigations, investigation management, negotiations, and litigation defense. A former federal prosecutor with an LL.M. in Tax Law, he advises clients facing federal grand jury and law enforcement investigations, as well as securities fraud and tax allegations. He assists businesses, professional, governmental, and nonprofit organizations on strategies to avoid becoming the target of an investigation.
Regularly recognized by Best Lawyers and other publications as a leading lawyer for white collar matters, Jim earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1987. He received his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University.
Best of the Bar honorees are selected from a public pool of nominations, submitted through the publication’s website, and are determined by a panel of editorial judges. Top criteria include contributions to their fields, their tangible accomplishments in their practice area, and their contributions to their firms. Such factors as professional reputation and civic involvement are also considered.
