McGlinchey Attorney James Sturdivant Receives Birmingham Business Journal’s Veteran of Influence Award
Read Time: 1 minMcGlinchey is pleased to announce that law firm partner James R. “Jim” Sturdivant (Birmingham) has been named a 2021 Veteran of Influence by the Birmingham Business Journal. This designation honors military veterans who went on to have success in the Birmingham business world and the local community.
As part of McGlinchey’s Government and Internal Investigations team, Jim aggressively represents clients in high-stakes white collar litigation and helps them prepare for and navigate state and federal investigations.
While in the military, Jim served as trial and defense counsel in the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. His experiences trying cases in military court-martials prepared him for a life in the legal profession. He subsequently served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama and as the lead of Dentons Sirote PC’s White Collar and Government Investigations team.
Jim currently focuses his practice on helping companies and individuals navigate government investigations, prosecutions, and regulatory actions, including preventive consulting, internal investigations, investigation management, negotiations, and litigation defense.
Regularly recognized by Best Lawyers and other publications as a leading lawyer for white collar matters, Jim earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1987. He has an LL.M. in tax law and received his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University.
