McGlinchey Sponsors Oral Advocacy Competition at University of Mississippi School of Law

During the last week in March 2008, McGlinchey sponsored the McGlinchey Stafford Oral Advocacy Competition, an event held annually at the University of Mississippi School of Law. The competition began with sixteen contestants, and by Friday, March 28, there were only two contestants standing. The well-prepared finalists argued a complex labor and employment issue before the Honorable Sharon Aycock of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, the Honorable Daniel P. Jordan, III and the Honorable Louis Guirola Jr., both from the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, in the final round of the competition.  After hearing an intense oral argument from both finalists, the judges declared Will Bardwell, a third-year law student, the winner and Jared Martin, a second-year law student, the runner-up of the competition.

Prior to the competition, McGlinchey Stafford Jackson lawyers Dewey Hembree, Buddy McRae, David Norris, John Rouse, Hunter Twiford, and Mark Tyson had lunch with the judges at City Grocery on the historic square in Oxford, Mississippi.  Following the competition and awards program, the lawyers hosted a reception at the Downtown Grill, also on the square in Oxford, for all of the Moot Court Board members and the contestants and judges for the competition.
