McGlinchey Stafford Attorney Michael Ferachi Receives Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award

McGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that Michael D. Ferachi, a Member in the firm’s Baton Rouge office, is a 2014 recipient of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award.  This award recognizes an attorney or law firm that has provided exceptional pro bono legal services to the citizens of Louisiana, and meets or exceeds the aspirational goal of providing 50 hours of pro bono services per year, as established in Rule 6.1 of Louisiana’s Rules of Professional Conduct.  To be eligible for the award, an attorney or firm must satisfy at least one of the following characteristics:

1. Demonstrated dedication to the development and delivery of legal services to the poor through a pro bono program;
2. Contributed significantly toward developing innovative approaches to delivering volunteer legal services;
3. Satisfied previously unmet needs extending services to underserved segments of the population;
4. Litigated pro bono cases that favorably affect the provision of legal services to the poor; or
5. Achieved legislation that contributed substantially to legal services for the poor.

“McGlinchey Stafford has a long tradition of commitment to pro bono and diversity efforts,” said managing member Rudy Aguilar.  “Michael Ferachi has been at the forefront of those efforts and we are honored that he is our colleague.” 

Ferachi is the former managing director of the firm’s Baton Rouge office. His primary emphasis is on commercial litigation, with a focus on consumer finance litigation, class action litigation, general business litigation, and insurance defense litigation at both the trial level and the appellate level. Michael also practices in the areas of aviation representation, outdoor advertising representation, trademarks, appellate practice, commercial finance litigation and construction litigation.  As testament to the esteem in which he is held by his peers, he has been listed in Louisiana Super Lawyers and in The Best Lawyers in America.
