McGlinchey Stafford Ranks Second Nationwide in Obtaining Patents in TC 1600
Read Time: 1 minThe firm’s Intellectual Property group has been highlighted for its exceptionally high rate of achieving patent office patent allowances for clients, in a study of allowance rates realized by law firms in IP Today magazine’s top patent firms when representing clients before the US Patent Office Technology Center 1600 (TC 1600), which covers biotech, chemical, and pharmaceutical technologies, as well as plants and cosmetics.
IP data software firm Juristat has released new rankings that show the top 10 law firms in the United States in obtaining patents in TC 1600, which has an overall allowance rate of 51%, a percentage significantly lower than the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) average of 71%. Juristat’s ranking of firms in obtaining patents from TC 1600 was drawn from IP Today’s top patent firms for 2015. To calculate allowance rate data, Juristat divided the total number of allowed applications by the sum of the total number of allowed and abandoned applications. Based on that calculation, McGlinchey Stafford ranked second nationwide with an allowance rate of 96.2%.
This is the second recent accolade for McGlinchey Stafford’s IP team. In July, the firm’s IP practice received a Tier 1 ranking from Managing Intellectual Property, with attorneys Jack Sieberth, Drew Patty, Joel Mohrman, and Gary Hebert receiving recognition for their work in the field.
Juristat, a software company founded in 2012, offers users statistical modeling capabilities that visually plot chances of success in every aspect of the patent application process.
