McGlinchey Welcomes 4 Former Clerks as 2024 Associates

- Gaven DeVillier (Baton Rouge)
- Madeline Earles (New Orleans)
- Ian Joseph (Nashville)
- Ryan Lavelle (New Orleans)

Gaven defends Louisiana client interests in matters ranging from real estate development disputes to employment issues to general business litigation. He also represents financial institutions, construction companies, and others in complicated disputes. He clerked with the firm throughout his third year at LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he graduated with a J.D./D.C.L in 2024. During law school, Gaven served as Editor-in-Chief of the LSU Law Journal for Social Justice and Policy, Volume IV. He held a summer externship with the Hon. Holly A. Brady of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana’s Fort Wayne Division. Prior to practicing law, Gaven taught theology at a Catholic high school in Gary, Indiana. He also holds an M.A. in Theology and B.A. in Political Science and Theology from the University of Notre Dame. He is licensed in Louisiana.
Maddie represents employers in labor and employment litigation, focusing on workplace disputes, compliance with federal and state regulations, and general employment counseling. Maddie worked as a Summer Associate with McGlinchey in 2023 before joining full-time this fall. She graduated with a J.D./D.C.L. from LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2024, where she was Development Editor for the Louisiana Law Review. Maddie was awarded the highest grade in the class for Legal Research and Writing II and Government Law. Maddie also worked as a judicial extern at the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana and in the Louisiana House of Representatives. She studied abroad at Jean Moulin University Lyon III in France. Maddie earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and English rhetoric, writing, and culture from LSU and is licensed in Louisiana.
Ian represents financial institutions in a variety of litigated matters. Focusing on mortgage lenders, loan servicers, and service providers, Ian counsels clients on matters arising under consumer protection statutes, as well as business disputes such as fraud and breach of contract. A previous recipient of McGlinchey’s 1L LCLD Scholarship, Ian worked as a Summer Associate for two years before joining the firm in 2024. Ian graduated from Washington & Lee School of Law and served as a Judicial Intern for The Hon. Claude V. Worrell, II in the 16th Judicial Circuit Court in Charlottesville, VA.. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Communication Studies from the University of Georgia. Ian is licensed in Tennessee.
Ryan represents manufacturing, transportation, and insurance businesses in a variety of litigated matters. He worked as a Summer Associate at McGlinchey in 2023 and clerked with the firm through his last year of law school before joining full-time this fall. Ryan graduated summa cum laude with a J.D. from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review. He was recognized as a Professor William L. Crowe, Sr., Scholar and was awarded the highest grade in the class for Obligations I, Federal Civil Procedure I, Civil Law Property, Sales & Leases, Employment Discrimination, Successions & Donations, Security Rights, and Regulation of Sports Industry. Ryan earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of New Orleans and is licensed in Louisiana.
