Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that the firm has been named to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly‘s 2024 “Empowering Women” list for its efforts to elevate women attorneys.
“We are honored to be among those recognized for the achievements of McGlinchey’s women attorneys,” said Shanna M. Boughton, Managing Member of McGlinchey’s Boston office. “McGlinchey is committed to supporting its women and diverse attorneys both within the firm and in our communities, and recognitions like these reaffirm our commitment to those efforts.”
The “Empowering Women” distinction was designed to recognize law firms that have shown a strong commitment to supporting and elevating women attorneys. According to Lawyers Weekly, “the firms featured range from large, general service firms to smaller boutique practices. But all have demonstrated a commitment to hiring and promoting women, providing mentoring and opportunities for professional advancement to women attorneys, and establishing programs and policies to help women attorneys thrive professionally.”
“In recent years, we have implemented several programs aimed at promoting inclusivity across our offices and practice groups. The women of McGlinchey are impressive attorneys who excel in their practices, their professions, and in their communities,” said Eliska Plunkett, Chief Diversity Officer and Director of Human Resources. “I am glad to see their work recognized with this meaningful honor.”
Last month, McGlinchey announced it was ranked in two categories in The American Lawyer’s 2024 Diversity Scorecards: #37 on the Women in Law scorecard and #178 on the LGBTQ+ scorecard. McGlinchey was also recently named among many AmLaw 100 and 200 firms in Vault’s 2025 rankings for Diversity in Law Firms, based on input from the firm’s Associates, including #26 in Overall Diversity, #16 in Quality of Life for Associate/Partner relations, #17 in Diversity for those with Disabilities, and #30 in Racial & Ethnic Diversity. In 2021, the firm relaunched its women’s initiative, Uplift, for McGlinchey’s women attorneys to convene, engage, empower, and advocate for each other in their work, in leadership, in their communities, across the legal profession, and in industries the firm serves.
In May of 2023, McGlinchey achieved the Midsize Mansfield Certification following a rigorous 18-month process led by Diversity Lab. The Midsize Mansfield recognition certifies that McGlinchey aims to track, measure, and achieve diversity in law firm leadership. Currently enrolled in the second certification cohort, McGlinchey was among the first 100 firms to achieve this recognition to date in the U.S. and Canada.
McGlinchey’s growing Boston office is home to eight attorneys and a number of legal professionals who handle a variety of litigation and corporate matters, including commercial and financial services litigation and intellectual property issues. In 2023, the firm moved into new office space in One Beacon Street, in support of its expansion initiative in New England.
