McGlinchey’s Lynette Hotchkiss receives ABA Business Law Section Chair Award
Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey is proud to announce that Lynette Hotchkiss, a Member in the firm’s Financial Institutions Compliance team, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Section Chair Award from the American Bar Association (ABA)’s Business Law section. This prestigious recognition, conferred by 2025 Section Chair Mac McCoy, honors Lynette among the section’s 30,000 members for her exceptional leadership within the ABA.
“Lynette is a consummate consumer finance lawyer whose industry knowledge and volunteer leadership within the ABA exemplify the forward-thinking perspective our clients value,” said Mark Edelman, chair of McGlinchey’s national Financial Institutions Compliance team and vice chair of the ABA’s Consumer Financial Services committee. “This honor reflects not only the legacy of excellence in her practice, but also her commitment to strengthening mentorship, networking, and education throughout the profession.”
Before joining McGlinchey, Lynette built an accomplished in-house career, serving in senior legal and executive roles at major financial institutions. She has extensive experience building compliance tools and guiding banks and financial institutions in developing innovative mortgage lending platforms. She also worked as a senior attorney and investigator in the Federal Trade Commission, advising FTC commissioners on federal legislation and industry trends as subject matter expert on mortgage servicing issues.
At McGlinchey, Lynette draws on that background to counsel clients in the financial services, banking, and consumer credit industries, providing practical business solutions rooted in her dual firsthand experience as a regulator and corporate leader.
In presenting the award, Section Chair Mac McCoy referred to Lynette as “one of our quiet leaders, one of our unsung heroes.” He also noted, “her editorial prowess led her to appointment as editor in chief of Business Law Today, our premier online platform for publications. Lynette’s leadership of the BLT board helped create a reliable source of top-notch legal information.”
Within the ABA, Lynette has served in editorial and committee leadership positions for 20 years. Some of these roles include as vice chair of the Consumer Financial Services committee, chair of the Publications/Communications subcommittee, and chair of the Truth in Lending subcommittee. Since 2017, Lynette has served as editor for various sections of Business Law Today, one of the ABA’s largest publications. She currently serves as editor in chief for the monthly publication. Her contributions to the ABA span mentoring emerging lawyers and promoting collaboration across industry sectors.
Currently licensed to practice in Tennessee and Oregon, Lynette is also recognized as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, a Fellow, former Regent, and current chair of the Annual Writing Competition Committee within the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers (ACCFSL), and serves on the Governing Committee for the Conference on Consumer Finance Law (CCFL).
The ABA Business Law Section Chair Award is presented annually to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to advancing business law and the section’s mission to provide education, assistance, and professional development.
