Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey Stafford congratulates Michael H. Rubin on the national release of his third novel, A White Hot Plan. Co-authored by his wife, Ayan, the book was published by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Press.
The story revolves around a disgraced former New Orleans homicide detective, relegated to being a deputy in a rural area, who stumbles across an alt-right terrorist plot to bomb the French Quarter. USA Today best-selling author Ellen Byron’s review described the book as “a gripping propulsive thriller I couldn’t put down,” and LA Times best-selling author Baron Birtcher deems it a “lightning-paced hardboiled winner!” Both of Mike’s two previous novels have won national awards and have gone international: The Cottoncrest Curse (2014) and Cashed Out (2017).
“Writing has always been a passion of mine, whether it’s legal writing or fiction,” said Mike. “My wife and I enjoy crafting page-turning thrillers that readers respond to, and endeavors like writing novels and being a jazz pianist feed my creative energy, which makes me a better lawyer.”
As Chair of McGlinchey’s Appellate practice, Mike is a versatile lawyer who has handled hundreds of appeals in state and federal courts, including before the U.S. Fifth, Seventh, and D.C. Circuit Courts of Appeal on a wide variety of issues, including constitutional law, labor law, legal ethics, local governmental zoning affecting private interests, property and contractual issues, oil and gas matters affecting the entire Gulf region, taxation, education, and matters of critical importance to the Louisiana lending community.
“Mike is an incredibly talented and brilliant lawyer, and we are proud to call him a colleague and long-term leader within the firm,” said Michael Ferachi, McGlinchey’s Managing Member. “We congratulate him on the release of another critically-acclaimed novel.”
A prolific writer, Mike’s numerous legal publications about real estate, finance, and ethics not only have been cited as authoritative in state and federal courts around the country, they also are used in law schools across the nation. In addition, he is a nationally known speaker and humorist who has given over 475 major presentations throughout the United States as well as in Canada and England.
Active in leadership with a multitude of legal professional organizations, Mike has been honored nationally by organizations including the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the Burton Foundation, the Foundation for the Improvement of Justice, the Louisiana State and Baton Rouge Bar Associations, and the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, where he served on the faculty for more than 40 years.
