Member Michael Rubin (Baton Rouge) will participate in a series of CLE conferences presented by LSU Law throughout the Fall of 2021.

The series, titled “Recent Developments in Legislation & Jurisprudence,” will include live presentations in Lafayette (October 21-22, 2021,) Shreveport (November 4-5, 2021,) and Kenner (December 9-10, 2021,) as well as three virtual conference dates (September 30-October 1, 2021; October 28-29, 2021; and December 15-16, 2021.)

Mike will present on the topic of recent developments in security devices, which will cover 2021 Louisiana legislation as well as developments in finance, lending, mortgages, real estate, and consumer/lender issues.

McGlinchey’s Women Attorneys Celebrate the Repeal of Louisiana’s “Pink Tax”

On June 10, 2021, Louisiana’s Speaker of the House enrolled and signed House Bill 7 to be sent to the governor for executive approval. House Bill 7 eliminated what has come to be known as the “Pink Tax.” Currently, groceries and prescriptions in Louisiana are not taxed, while diapers (child and adult) and feminine hygiene products are, creating an imbalance in taxes on necessities for women. In 2019, it was estimated that the state receives about $10 million dollars from the current tax of diapers and feminine hygiene products.
