Sandy Among 2025 Top Class Action Authors by JD Supra Readers

McGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that Member Jim Sandy (Cleveland) has been recognized among JD Supra’s 2025 Readers Choice Awards, ranking #4 in the top 10 authors in the Class Actions category.

With 55 pieces of content published to JD Supra, Jim was McGlinchey’s most prolific writer in 2024. He authored articles on topics ranging from class actions, civil litigation, and financial services litigation to federal regulatory developments at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and others, as well as at the state level.

The top readers in the Class Actions category work in the financial services, health care, technology, retail, and food and beverage industries. In its tenth annual year, JD Supra’s 2025 Readers Choice list recognizes 344 authors from among more than 70,000 who published on the platform throughout 2024. McGlinchey authors Douglas Charnas and Michael Blumenthal were named to the list in 2024.

Jim is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer who represents individuals, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies in all aspects of civil and commercial litigation. Financial services companies of varying sizes have engaged Jim based on his significant experience handling complex single-party and class action disputes in state and federal courts, in matters with financial exposure reaching seven figures. Jim’s primary focus is on assisting and advising national mortgage servicing companies, auto finance companies, banks, and small businesses in cases involving federal and state regulatory matters, arbitrations, consumer complaints filed with the CFPB, and state and federal lawsuits.

Jim also advises clients outside the financial industry in data privacy and cybersecurity matters, as well as clients involved the cannabis space.

District Court Dismisses FDCPA and FCRA Action Against Community College

January 2, 2025

On December 11, 2024, the United States Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Arizona dismissed a pro se litigant’s claims against Montgomery Community College (the College) for, inter alia, alleged violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), 15 U.S.C. § 1681, and the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act (FDCPA), 15 U.S.C. § 1692. The court ruled that the pro se plaintiff had failed to state plausible claims for relief under both the FCRA and FDCPA and dismissed the FDCPA claim with prejudice and the FCRA claim without prejudice.
