McGlinchey News Release
Three Green Light Law Group Attorneys Join McGlincheyRead Time: 3 mins
McGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that three nationally recognized attorneys who specialize in complex litigation, transactional, and regulatory matters across the spectrum of cannabis businesses have joined McGlinchey in Seattle and Albany.
Perry Salzhauer, Brittany Adikes, and Daniel Shortt, who previously practiced with Green Light Law Group, will advise on a broad range of legal and business-related aspects of the cannabis industry. They focus on serving cannabis, hemp, and CBD-related businesses, including business owners and operators, investors, banks and financial institutions, insurers, and industry and trade organizations.
“Perry, Brittany, and Daniel understand the challenges and opportunities the law presents for businesses working in and with the cannabis industry,” said Michael Ferachi, McGlinchey’s Managing Member. “This group has substantial experience in this field, and their insight in this sector will be a tremendous asset for our clients nationwide.”
With two of these attorneys licensed to practice in Oregon, this group expands McGlinchey’s capabilities to serve clients in the Pacific Northwest. In other growth along the West Coast, these three attorneys join just one week after a group of litigators joined McGlinchey in Irvine. As of May 15, McGlinchey has hired 21 full-time attorneys in 11 offices in 2023.
“Our trusted attorneys work hard to make sure our clients are effectively and ethically prepared and equipped to succeed in this ever-changing space,” said Heidi Urness, Co-Chair of the firm’s Cannabis Industry Group. “As the rules and regulations governing the cannabis industry continue to evolve, the addition of these attorneys to McGlinchey’s Cannabis Industry Group will ensure that we continue to provide cutting-edge, comprehensive service to our clients from coast to coast.”
The attorneys joining McGlinchey include:
Perry Salzhauer, who co-founded Green Light Law Group in 2015, joins McGlinchey as a Member (Partner) and Co-Chair of the Cannabis Industry Group. He is a corporate and environmental attorney with two decades of experience providing strategic and compliance guidance as well as legal advice to public and private entities. Perry has served as both outside and in-house counsel to a variety of companies, investors, and government agencies throughout the United States and has helped successfully launch several marijuana companies, brands, and projects. Perry’s years working on business processes and SEC and environmental compliance make him uniquely qualified to advise participants in the emerging cannabis space, where navigating compliance within complex regulatory regimes can be a major barrier to entry and long-term success.
“Throughout our discussions with McGlinchey, I’ve been consistently impressed not only with the attorneys and the quality of the legal minds within the firm, but also with the firm’s growth mindset and strategic trajectory,” Perry said. “Many firms are interested in the cannabis market, but those who are investing in deeply understanding and providing top-tier service to these clients are few. We are thrilled to be here among the best and brightest in the legal cannabis space who work hard and support a dynamic firm culture built on excellence and integrity.”
Perry has also written extensively on land-use and conservation issues related to project design, siting, and development. He received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and an LL.M. in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from Lewis and Clark Law School. He is licensed to practice in Oregon and New York.
Brittany Adikes, who joins the firm as an Associate in its Albany office, is a litigation attorney with experience in New York and Oregon. She represents clients in a variety of legal matters, including contract and commercial disputes, construction defects, products liability, malpractice, and catastrophic injuries. She also has experience providing legal and environmental consulting services to a startup cannabis company. Brittany received her J.D. and bachelor’s degree through the advanced combined degree program at St. John’s University School of Law and St. John’s University, respectively, in New York. She is licensed to practice in Oregon and New York.
Daniel Shortt, who joins the firm as an Associate, is a corporate and regulatory attorney based in Seattle. Daniel works extensively with entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry. Specifically, he advises clients on matters related to both hemp and marijuana and frequently speaks on legal issues relating to cannabis across the country and abroad. Daniel graduated from the University of Washington School of Law, where he worked extensively with the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board to fund and establish the Cannabis Law and Policy Project. He is licensed to practice in Washington.
