Three McGlinchey Attorneys to Participate in the 2024 MBA CRMC Conference
Read Time: 1 minMembers of McGlinchey’s Financial Institutions Compliance and Enterprise Litigation and Investigations teams will participate in multiple sessions during the upcoming Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) Compliance and Risk Management Conference (CRMC) in Washington, DC.
On Sunday, September 22, 2024, Jim Milano (Washington, DC) will facilitate “Loan Originator Compensation.” This facilitated discussion will allow attendees to ask questions and exchange information to learn how peers are approaching compliance challenges related to Loan Originator Compensation.
On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Dan Plunkett (New Orleans) and Sandy Shatz (Irvine) will co-present ” Legal Ethics: Federal Regulation of Lawyers.” Historically, lawyers have been allowed to regulate themselves through voluntary bar associations with government oversight limited to the judiciary. And most of that oversight was exercised at the state level. In the last half-century, several events have so deeply impacted the American public’s view of lawyers that the federal government has reacted by at least considering federal regulation of lawyers. This session will take attendees through the role of lawyers in Watergate, Enron, and the mortgage crisis, and review the federal government’s response.
