I wake up every day and love what I do. I really enjoy the challenge of working with litigators, seeing and guiding the client life-cycle first hand. I have spent my whole career in law firm business development, working with hundreds of attorneys in firms of all sizes both in-house and as a consultant for more than 25 years. No two days have ever been the same.
Brandy Austin works with the firm’s Financial Services Litigation and Enterprise Litigation and Investigations practice groups. In her coaching role, she advises attorneys across the firm on nurturing relationships tailored to each attorney’s style and personality to get and keep clients.
A resourceful researcher and connector of dots, Brandy provides guidance and strategic recommendations on BD and marketing initiatives that support individual attorneys, practice groups, industry teams, and the firm as a whole. This work spans attorney coaching, client and competitor research, thought leadership and attorney branding, and event and sponsorship strategy. She is most focused and driven when coordinating teams to tackle tough challenges.
Brandy spent the first decade of her career in-house at Am Law 100 firms before moving to small and mid-sized firms, then consulting for Texas-based firms. In her consulting roles, she focused on helping law firms build their first marketing/BD teams. This entailed building teams and establishing processes and frameworks to help firms define their goals, breaking them down into tactical plans, and adjusting the plans as needed to achieve ultimate success.
Lawyers are trained to practice the law, not run a business, so Brandy invested in herself as a strategic business partner and earned an MBA. She applies this practical knowledge when forming teams and developing plans. She is most focused and driven when tackling complicated challenges.
True to her career themes of mentorship, networking, and leadership, Brandy has held numerous positions within the Southwest region, Texas chapter, and Dallas city group of the Legal Marketing Association (LMA) for almost 20 years. She also volunteers to support the education, mentorship, and networking efforts of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), Empowering Women as Leaders, and Private School Interscholastic Association.
