Dan E. West is an experienced trial and appellate attorney, having practiced law for more than 35 years. He has vast experience in the interpretation of insurance policies including coverage disputes arising from Director and Officer policies, and Errors and Omissions and General Liability policies. He also is engaged in class action litigation involving toxic and environmental claims. He has acted as appellate and coverage counsel for a national insurer and has appeared before the Louisiana Supreme Court and most Circuit Courts of the State of Louisiana.
From 2010-2018, while maintaining his active practice as a trial attorney, Dan served as McGlinchey Stafford’s general counsel. In this role, he implemented policies and procedures to address firm risks and conflicts across the firm’s nationwide network of offices. Dan worked closely with firm management and the Managing Member on issues relating to risk management, conflicts, due diligence, and the client intake process. Dan oversaw firm contracts, general liability issues, advised firm management, represented the firm in disputes, and provided ethics opinions and counsel for professional liability issues. He also trained the firm’s attorneys and staff to proactively identify and prevent these issues throughout the course of their work.
