I believe everyone deserves an advocate who can sit and listen on their worst days and get them through to the next best days of their life. I'm happy to be a legal nerd and enjoy diving into the legal frameworks at play within federal and Louisiana jurisprudence. Crafting legal solutions that a court can apply to systemically improve our justice system is particularly rewarding.
Gaven DeVillier is a thoughtful litigator who supports a variety of firm clients. He defends Louisiana client interests in matters ranging from real estate development disputes to employment issues to general business litigation. He also represents financial institutions, construction companies, and others in complicated disputes.
Gaven takes both a systematic and macroscopic approach to his matters. This equips him to anticipate a logical progression from start to conclusion, while also considering every prospect that could affect the client down the road. This way, he identifies and resolves potential arguments or issues before they arise. Keen on making intellectually responsible decisions at each step, he is aware that winning one small fight can put a client at risk for greater losses down the road. Remaining conscious of the client’s perspective and the gravity of each matter keeps Gaven grounded throughout the litigation process.
During law school, Gaven served as Editor-in-Chief of the LSU Law Journal for Social Justice and Policy, Volume IV. He held a summer externship with the Hon. Holly A. Brady of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana’s Fort Wayne Division. Prior to practicing law, Gaven taught theology at a Catholic high school in Gary, Indiana.
