I believe everyone deserves an advocate who can sit and listen on their worst days and get them through to their next best days. Crafting legal solutions that a court can apply to systemically improve our justice system is particularly rewarding.
Gaven DeVillier is a thoughtful litigator who supports a variety of firm clients across wide-ranging commercial and consumer litigation, including construction, consumer finance, property and real estate, insurance, and oil and gas.
In particular, Gaven has experience with complex real estate issues involving sheriff’s sales and land banks, general contractor and subcontractor disputes, and defending RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) matters. He also represents nonprofit organizations in member disputes and has appeared in front of the American Arbitration Association.
Gaven manages his cases across the matter lifecycle in a thoughtful and proactive way. With a mind to cross-litigation resolution, he takes a macroscopic approach to advising his clients on short-term actions that will have long-term impact.
During law school, Gaven served as Editor-in-Chief of the LSU Law Journal for Social Justice and Policy, Volume IV. He held a summer externship with the Hon. Holly A. Brady of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana’s Fort Wayne Division. Prior to practicing law, Gaven taught theology at a Catholic high school in Gary, Indiana.
