Because I have spent several years as a secondee with one of our firm’s major clients, I have an unusually in-depth understanding of both what clients need from their lawyers and what they face day-to-day. With my extensive litigation and in-house experience, I have the ability to meet every clients’ needs. In other words, I excel at serving clients because I’ve been the client.
Jaline Fenwick is an Associate in the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Litigation practice group. Based in our Fort Lauderdale, Florida office, Jaline represents institutional lenders and servicers in secured creditors’ rights litigation and consumer financial services litigation. Her work has included attending complex adversarial proceedings, depositions, and non-jury trials throughout Florida. She also researches and drafts a wide range of legal documents and client memoranda, as well as various motions.
Jaline has extensive experience working as a secondee with a major consumer bank. In this role, she reviews various legal documents with respect to lawsuits filed against the bank, as well as managing outside counsel in the northeastern states regarding legal strategies and interpretations of federal and state laws.
As an experienced secondee, Jaline has in-depth, firsthand experience in the most critical part of any attorney’s professional toolkit – genuinely understanding the client’s business, their needs, their strategies, and their goals. Any study of the source of client dissatisfaction with lawyers always comes down to a belief that the lawyer doesn’t understand the client’s business. Jaline does, because she’s been immersed in it, every day, for years.
Because of this, she views litigation from a business-focused, pragmatic approach. As an example, she is exceptionally good at keeping her clients informed. When a case begins, Jaline gets back to the client within 24 to 48 hours with an initial analysis. With research, a more comprehensive evaluation, including a strategy, follows shortly. During the course of the matter, she provides updates on a weekly or monthly basis depending on what the client requires. She manages her cases with a client-first approach.
