Peter “Pete” Maskow is an Associate in our Commercial Litigation practice group. Based in our Fort Lauderdale office, Pete’s practice spans several different areas of the law. First, he is experienced in defending claims brought against his clients, which comprise national and state banks, consumer financial services providers, mortgage banks and lenders, mortgage loan servicers and issuers, and a spectrum of other businesses. Pete also assists clients with real estate and title issues, contested foreclosures, and alleged federal and state regulatory violations arising under a variety of state and federal consumer protection, licensing, lending, usury, leasing, and sales laws. Pete helps his clients efficiently recover collateral such as vehicles and vessels through replevin, foreclosure, and repossession. He’s also there to resolve complications that may arise from those processes. Pete is especially interested in areas where the law and technology converge, including FinTech, information security and privacy, intellectual property, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies. Along with an exceptionally broad base of professional experience, Pete is a skilled writer, particularly in briefing cases on appeal, which he does regularly. He excels at digesting large amounts of unstructured material, discerning the key points and essential arguments, and distilling them down into a document that’s lucid, organized, and communicates the essential information judges, courts and opposing counsel require. When coupled with his formidable research skills, Pete’s writing provides his clients with a distinct advantage in any kind of adversarial proceeding.
