My approach is to work backwards, beginning each matter with the client’s end goal in mind and putting the steps in place that will lead us there. My diverse legal background keeps me grounded and always focused on putting people first.
Richard Sykora is a solutions-oriented litigator who has represented financial institutions since 2014. He advocates for mortgage loan servicers, banks, and others in complex real estate actions, alleged violations of state and federal statutes, and asset recovery.
Strategizing to effectively resolve mortgage defaults, foreclosure litigation, loss mitigation, and judicial and non-judicial sale, Richard works on matters brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act and other state UDAAP laws, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and Truth in Lending Act (TILA). He has experience handling cases from inception through trial.
Collaborative by nature, Richard enjoys working closely with the client and, when appropriate, with opposing counsel to break down the complex issues at play. Often, he finds, with thorough research and negotiation, a mutually acceptable resolution develops that was not initially apparent.
During law school, Richard completed internships with the Orange County District Attorney in domestic violence and elder care, originally intending to practice family law. Exposure to this area gave him a unique perspective about the power of the law for the individuals at the heart of each matter that still informs his practice today. In this vein, Richard enjoys working with his financial clients to protect and reestablish positive relationships with their customers.
