Robert Im’s primary focus is defending entities and businesses in lawsuits brought by consumers in state and federal courts. His experience ranges from obtaining numerous summary judgments to success in the appellate context.
His client base includes businesses and financial institutions such as national and state banks, consumer finance companies, mortgage loan servicers and issuers, and other providers of consumer financial services. He also handles matters involving fraud, wrongful foreclosure, negligence, and breach of contract. Robert assists clients with contested foreclosures, real estate and title issues, and claims of federal and state regulatory violations. He represents banks and financial institutions in disputes involving state and federal consumer protection, and lending laws, and has experience defending claims arising under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act (CCRAA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), California’s Uniform Voidable Transactions Act (UVTA), and California’s Rosenthal FDCPA.
With experience in construction litigation, Robert represents owners and general contractors in disputes arising out of commercial construction and high-end, residential construction projects. He also has managed employment litigation cases in state and federal court and arbitration, including matters involving discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wrongful termination, involving violations of California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA).
