New Orleans CityBusiness Names McGlinchey Office Managing Attorney Mag Bickford a “Woman of the Year”
Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that New Orleans Office Managing Attorney Magdalen Blessey Bickford has been honored with the 2021 “Women of the Year” Award from New Orleans CityBusiness, in recognition of her business success and dedication to the community. The award recognizes leaders in the region based on criteria including professional and community involvement as well as career accolades. Honorees will be celebrated during a virtual reception on November 8.
“Mag is a standout in her field and is recognized as a pre-eminent leader in the area of management, labor, and employment law, an area of focus in high demand during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said McGlinchey Managing Member Michael Ferachi. “For McGlinchey, she serves as a role model and an example of how to be a great lawyer, business champion, mentor, team member, and colleague. We all congratulate her on this honor, which she so richly deserves.”
Mag became Managing Attorney of McGlinchey’s New Orleans office, the firm’s first and largest, in 2021 and has dedicated months to reorganizing the office’s structure and processes. The changes underscore the importance of the firm’s #McGlincheyForward initiative, through which Mag drives positive change by focusing on growth strategy, strengthening the firm’s inclusive culture, empowering employees to succeed, and surpassing clients’ expectations by delivering exceptional service.
“It is certainly an honor to be recognized among this prestigious group of women who are so dedicated to professional excellence and improving the city we love,” Mag said. “Women play a distinct and critical role, both in business and in our community, and this recognition demonstrates the importance of that role in our society.”
Mag also chairs the firm’s national Labor and Employment practice and was integral to the creation of the firm’s extensive COVID-19 Resource Center. Since the start of the pandemic, she has led the Labor and Employment team in delivering continual guidance to clients on employment issues including remote work, vaccination, wage payments, paid leave, and many more. Mag and her team have hosted a number of webinars that were free and open to the public, helping businesses stay ahead of the issues and maintain operations during the pandemic.
Mag is also a dedicated community servant. She currently serves on the board of Lambeth House and Lambeth House Foundation and is a past president of St. Anna’s, serving the elderly communities in New Orleans. She is a past president of the Women’s Professional Council of New Orleans, where she remains active. A true ambassador of New Orleans culture, Mag also founded a women’s group called Kru du Vin, which combines wine and food tasting with networking and fun.
