If You’re a Good Legal Writer, You Don’t Write Good: Better Contract Writing for Transactional Lawyers
Read Time: 1 minWe all negotiate written contracts as part of our daily practice. Lawyers and their firms have forms that they use, reuse, amend, and then reuse again. These lengthy forms are often filled with legalese and convoluted sentences that can run on for a page or more, but that’s okay; we all know what these documents say. The purpose of a form, ultimately, is to have it enforced in a court of law. If we have to explain to a judge or jury the meaning or intent of a contract, that’s one more hurdle to success.
Member Mike Rubin (Baton Rouge) will present an American Bar Association webinar, “If You’re a Good Legal Writer, You Don’t Write Good: Better Contract Writing for Transactional Lawyers,” on February 22, 2023.
