Julia Berry Lopez Joins McGlinchey in Albany

Practicing in the Financial Institutions Compliance practice, Julia supports financial institutions in remaining compliant with the varying regulatory regimes under which they operate. Julia is one of the 50 attorneys McGlinchey welcomed in 2023, as part of a focused recruitment initiative aimed at expanding its nationally recognized team.
“Julia adds a dynamic voice and perspective to our office here in Albany,” said Jeff Barringer, Managing Member of McGlinchey’s Albany office. “I’m glad to add an attorney with her legal acumen to our New York team.”
Julia works with clients ranging from mortgage, manufactured housing, and student lenders, as well as FinTechs, sales finance companies, other direct and indirect lenders, and service providers. Her previous paralegal experience and handling closings as a realtor affords her a global understanding of the real estate life cycle. As a former freelance journalist and editor managing a team of writers, Julia excels at crafting effective communications for legal and business audiences.

Prior to joining McGlinchey full-time, Julia worked at the firm as a law clerk in 2022 and 2023. She worked as a legal intern for the Honorable Mae A. D’Agostino of the U.S. Northern District of New York. Julia also worked as a law student intern at the Community Economic Development Clinic at New York’s Albany Law School, where she addressed matters ranging from entity formation, local hiring policies, and federal income tax and property tax exemption applications.
Licensed to practice in New York, Julia earned a J.D. summa cum laude from Albany Law School, where she served on the Executive Board for Volume 87 of Albany Law Review. She also holds a B.A. from Simon Fraser University.
