Search and Surveillance in the Digital Age
Read Time: 1 minMember Brandon B. Brown (Baton Rouge) co-presented a session on “Search and Surveillance in the Digital Age” during the 2025 Judicial Conference of the Fifth Circuit, which took place May 5-7 in Miramar Beach, Florida.
The session focused on critical legal issues relating to obtaining warrants for surveillance material in criminal cases and included an overview of emerging technologies and the differences between them, Fourth Amendment applicability, post-Carpenter developments, and judicial oversight in the face of a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Other panelists included Jennifer Granick, Surveillance and Cybersecurity Counsel with the American Civil Liberties Union, and Orin Kerr, Professor of Law at Stanford Law School, and the session was moderated by LaKeysha Greer Isaac, U.S. Magistrate Judge, Southern District of Mississippi.
Brandon, former United States Attorney for the Western District of Louisiana, joined McGlinchey as a Member (Partner) affiliated with the firm’s Baton Rouge office in April 2025. Brandon leads the firm’s Government and Internal Investigations team and advises businesses and individuals on government investigations and white-collar matters. He counsels federal, state, and private companies on labor and employment investigations and litigation and represents public and private employers and insurers in actions brought by employees and unions.
