Jonathan Smith is a commercial and financial services litigator who addresses matters related to mortgage lending, real estate, and creditors’ rights. He also represents clients from the auto finance and insurance industries.
With a decade of experience with Texas’ unique homestead and property rights regimes, he is adept at navigating lending, servicing, title, and collections matters in state and federal courts. This includes defending claims brought under the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), Texas Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (TDCA), Truth-In Lending Act (TILA), Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), as well as complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and analogous state entities.
While he works to resolve matters before trial, Jonathan has represented clients in non-jury and jury trials.
During law school, Jonathan externed with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Arkansas and was a member of Law Review.
