- FinTech Legal – USA
- FinTech Legal: Payments and Lending – USA
- FinTech Legal: Payments and Lending – USA: Robert Savoie (One of 6 attorneys ranked in Band One)
The 2024 guide marks the fourth consecutive year in which McGlinchey and Robert have been recognized by Chambers as a leading firm in FinTech. According to Chambers, “McGlinchey lawyers can discuss multi-state issues intelligently and efficiently, at a very high level.”
Robert Savoie is one of only six attorneys to achieve Chambers’ highest ranking in the nationwide FinTech Legal: Payments and Lending category, and one of only 26 total individuals ranked. The team was one of only 21 ranked in Payments and Lending nationwide.
“We are proud to be highly ranked for the fourth year in a row based on industry commentary,” Robert Savoie said. “Being consistently held in such high esteem by our colleagues and peers encourages us to keep innovating and growing in service of our clients.”
Client and market feedback to Chambers noted the depth and breadth of McGlinchey’s capabilities. One client stated, “The lawyers at McGlinchey offer practical advice and have an encyclopedic knowledge. They are also reliable and responsive.” Another client noted, “The team is very responsive and flexible. The service levels are very strong too and work is delivered in accordance with agreed deadlines and good quality of advice.”
“As the FinTech industry has rapidly grown year over year, so has our ability to provide full service advice across the expanding spectrum of applicable financial services laws. I’m excited to see Robert and the team as a whole garner well deserved recognition,” said Mark Edelman, Chair of McGlinchey’s national Financial Institutions Compliance practice group.
Robert’s Band One ranking is particularly notable, as the other five Band One ranked attorneys represent some of the country’s largest and best-known law firms. He has also had a rapid rise through the Chambers ranks, having debuted on the list in Band Three in 2020. Robert is also currently ranked (Band Three) in Chambers USA in the Financial Services Regulation: Consumer Finance (Compliance). He is one of only five attorneys to be ranked in both FinTech Legal: Payments and Lending and in Financial Services Regulation: Consumer Finance (Compliance).
According to one client, Robert’s “…expertise in this area is second to none and his rates are extremely reasonable. He’s very knowledgeable in his subject matter, which creates a lot of efficiency. When he gives advice, it’s actionable. He’s very good at applying the law or his interpretation to our business, and telling us the various options and attendant risks.”
Attorneys in McGlinchey’s FinTech team work closely with technology developers, providers, and users – analyzing the business applications of new technologies, including the regulatory implications of using various algorithms and APIs – to help them comply with both federal and state financial services regulations.
Chambers rankings are developed through an independent and rigorous research process that uses client and market feedback to assess technical legal ability, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence and other qualities. Ranking in any band is a significant achievement.
