McGlinchey Attorneys Named to Leadership Roles in ABA Business Law Section
Read Time: 3 minsMcGlinchey Stafford is pleased to announce that several members of the firm have been appointed to leadership roles within the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section.
Marshall Grodner (Baton Rouge) has been elected to serve as a member of the ABA Business Law Section’s Council, which is the organization’s governing body. With a national reputation in commercial finance, secured transactions, and real estate, Marshall represents both Louisiana and out-of-state lenders and borrowers in large commercial and real estate finance transactions, locally, regionally, and nationally. He is also a licensed title insurance agent and a leading voice in legal opinions as well as legal ethics and professionalism.
Marshall has served the Business Law Section in a number of leadership roles in recent years, including Chair (2019–2022) of the Commercial Finance Committee, current Member of the Committee Oversight and Support Board, and current Co-Chair of the Task Force on Deposit Account Control Agreements. He is a Past President of and a Fellow in the American College of Commercial Finance Lawyers, as well as a Fellow in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys. Marshall is also a Past President of the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys.
Aaron Kouhoupt (Cleveland) has been appointed as Chair of the Section’s Consumer Financial Services Committee’s Compliance Management Subcommittee, having previously served as Vice-Chair for the past two years. With more than 15 years’ experience as both in-house and outside counsel to banks, FinTechs, and various financial institutions of diverse sizes and formats, Aaron focuses on advising traditional banks as well as FinTech start-ups navigating the federal regulatory regime surrounding bank partnership programs and launching consumer finance products on a national scale.
Jim Sandy (Cleveland) has been selected as Vice Chair of the Section’s Consumer Financial Services Committee’s Debt Collection Practices and Bankruptcy Subcommittee. Jim is an experienced trial and appellate litigator who focuses his practice on advising national mortgage servicing companies, auto finance companies, banks, and small businesses in cases involving federal and state regulatory matters, arbitrations, consumer complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and state and federal lawsuits.
Lynette Hotchkiss (Nashville) has been named Editor-in-Chief of Business Law Today, the premier digital platform of the ABA Business Law Section. Previously, Lynette served as Executive Editor for Business Regulation & Regulated Industries. Lynette has more than 30 years’ experience focused on consumer financial services law and banking law. She primarily advises banks, mortgage lenders and servicers, and other financial institution clients on legal and regulatory matters related to consumer financial protection laws and regulations, and on corporate governance, risk management, and other bank safety and soundness issues. Lynette has held several leadership roles within the Section’s Consumer Financial Services Committee, including Committee Vice-Chair; Programs Co-Chair; Publications/Communications Chair; eNewsletter Editor; Director of BLS Publications; and Truth in Lending Chair. She is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers, a Member of the ABA Banking Law Committee, and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
