A reception will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023, at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Indiana, to honor this year’s inductees.
“Congratulations to Marc on this well-deserved recognition,” said Mark Edelman, Chair of McGlinchey’s national Financial Institutions Compliance practice group. “Marc’s tireless work ethic, dedication to client service, and commitment to legal excellence inspires us all and we’re so happy for him to be recognized for all of his work to the manufactured housing industry.”
For four decades, Marc Lifset has been a trusted advisor and valued advocate for the manufactured housing industry. During that time, he has represented and assisted virtually every segment of the industry, including trade associations, retailers, community owners/operators, manufacturers, lenders, loan brokers, and secondary market participants. Marc’s experience and knowledge around the financing, titling, licensing, and regulatory compliance regulations impacting the industry have been invaluable. Through every major shift in U.S. housing policy, Marc’s critical guidance has helped shape today’s manufactured housing regulatory environment.
“Marc is well respected, highly regarded, and very involved in the manufactured housing industry. He has been a mentor to me and others and will be for years to come,” said Jeffrey Barringer, a Member in McGlinchey’s Financial Institutions Compliance practice group and Managing Member of the firm’s Albany office. “Industry members have consistently sought Marc’s advice and guidance, and I am confident that he has not only advanced manufactured housing, but has ensured that financing remains available to countless home owners.”
Marc counsels manufactured housing lenders on chattel lending guidelines and structuring both chattel-only and land-home mortgages for manufactured homes. He also advises on manufactured housing community and debt collection issues, manufactured home sales and dealer licensing issues, and transactions involving manufactured housing finance – including inventory loans, lines of credit, chattel paper origination and sales, secondary market transactions, and related matters.
The Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) recognized Marc with their Lifetime Achievement award in 2020. Marc has been an active member of MHI’s Financial Services Division Board of Governors, and served as both Chair and Vice Chair of the Finance Lawyers Committee. He is a Fellow of the American College of Consumer Finance Lawyers and a member of the Governing Committee of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law. Since 2007, he has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of Financial Services Regulation Law and Litigation – Banking & Finance. Recognized for many years, Marc has been ranked by Martindale- Hubel as “A-V”, the highest ranking.
In his spare time, Marc supports more than 30 charities and is most proud of his work with Labs-4-Rescue, an organization entirely staffed by volunteers that provides a new life for rescued or displaced Labrador Retrievers and Labrador Mixes.
