I spent 12 years of my childhood as a concert violinist, so I learned the values of hard work and self-discipline from an early age. I apply that work ethic to my legal practice. I find it very gratifying to put my research, writing, and analytical thinking skills to use addressing clients’ legal challenges. Although I’m detail-oriented, I also know how to manage the big picture, and I’m told I’m very good at thinking several steps down the road.
Taylor Willis brings an outstanding work ethic and notable professionalism to her litigation practice, where she handles financial services, maritime, and general insurance defense litigation.
In her insurance defense practice, Taylor works on first-party property defense claims, including hurricanes, wind/hail events, and fire claims. Additionally, Taylor represents regional transportation companies and their insurers in a manner of issues, ranging from underinsured motorist coverage to transportation services.
Taylor also offers a strong knowledge base in maritime law. In her maritime practice, Taylor handles a wide range of litigation, including matters arising under the Jones Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, and Limitation of Liability Act, as well as catastrophic property damage and premises liability.
In her financial practice, Taylor represents national banks, lenders, servicers, and others in state and federal court and in arbitrations. In particular, she advises clients in claims brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act (HOEPA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA)/ Regulation Z, and related state laws.
At her previous firm, Taylor served employers, adjusters, individual plaintiffs, and private companies while gaining valuable hands-on experience in discovery, depositions, motion practice, and presenting arguments in court. Each situation taught her how to adapt and apply herself to varied circumstances and enabled her to grow as an attorney.
During law school, Taylor was a member of both the trial advocacy program and the Maritime Law Journal and worked as a teaching assistant for a legal writing course.
