McGlinchey Attorneys to Participate in 2025 ABA Business Law Fall Meeting
Read Time: 2 minsMcGlinchey attorneys will participate in multiple sessions during the upcoming American Bar Association (ABA) 2025 Business Law Fall Meeting in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, September 18 through September 19, 2025.
Robert Savoie (Cleveland) will co-present “Removing Nearly a Decade of Guidance: Navigating Truth-in-Lending Laws Under the Current Administration and Beyond” on September 18, 2025. This panel will discuss how companies and individuals can navigate Truth in Lending Regulations and Regulation Z after the Trump Administration withdrew nearly a decade’s worth of guidance. The panel will examine what risks companies can take and how the consumer side may view potential actions against companies that fail to follow the rescinded guidance.
Marshall Grodner (Baton Rouge) will co-chair the “Asset-Based Lending Subcommittee Meeting.” Commercial Finance Committee and Subcommittee Meetings are substantive discussions covering specific business law topic areas or administrative discussions about the group’s work. Meetings are open to all attendees and are an excellent opportunity for any member to get involved with the work of committees and subcommittees.
Robert Savoie (Cleveland) will co-present “Buy Now Pay Later Loans and the Like: Where Are We Now with Point-of-Sale Products” on September 19, 2025. Presenters will discuss industry developments in Buy Now, Pay Later, Home Improvement, and other areas. The program will also review the implications of the CFPB’s actions for BNPL providers, as well as state enforcement matters related to point-of-sale products.
Sandy Shatz (Irvine) will co-present “Yogi Berra Does Legal Ethics – An Overview of the Ethical Rules that Govern In-House and Outside Counsel as They Represent Their Entity Clients.” This presentation will address (in nine innings) an array of ethics issues, looking at legal ethics issues encountered by in-house counsel and retained outside counsel and framed by various of the Rules of Professional Conduct.
Additionally, Michael Blumenthal (Cleveland) serves as Chair of the Environmental Law Committee, which is co-sponsoring a session titled “Navigating the Climate-Related Financial Risk Landscape: Impacts to Financial Institutions.” This panel will explore federal and state regulatory developments affecting climate risk disclosure, prudential requirements, and sustainability reporting, as well as the increasing state law focus on climate-related disclosure laws.
